When You Are Spiritually Afraid.

If you are afraid of God, begin gently.

Do not attack the fear.

Do not shame yourself for having it.

Bring it into the light.

Many people are not afraid of the Father Himself.

They are afraid of an image.

A portrait. A voice. A threat. A doctrine received without tenderness. A sermon that made the nervous system confuse God with danger.

Let this distinction open:

The Father is not the caricature.

Again:

The Father is not the caricature.

The Master said:

If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father.

So when fear rises, look at Him.

Look at the One who touched the unclean.

Look at the One who received the ashamed.

Look at the One who asked, "Wilt thou be made whole?"

Look at the One who wept over the city that refused Him.

Look at the One who did not call fire down upon those who rejected Him.

Look at the One who forgave while being murdered.

There is no hidden cruelty behind Christ.

There is no secret face of the Father that contradicts the Master.

The Master is not protecting you from the Father.

The Master is revealing Him.

Let the body hear that.

The Master is not protecting you from the Father.

The Master is revealing Him.

If judgment frightens you, remember:

Judgment is the unveiling of truth.

And in the Father, truth is not revealed in order to destroy the beloved.

Truth is revealed so the lie can lose its power.

You may still feel afraid.

That is okay.

Trust can begin as a very small opening.

Not certainty.

Not emotional triumph.

Just this:

Perhaps the Father is better than the fear I inherited.

Quietly say:

I bring my fear into the light.

I release the caricature.

Show me the Father in the face of the Master.

You are not being forced.

You are being invited.

Return slowly.

The Father is not your enemy.
