The original error was 4.30. The submitted fix—4.26, published 1949—was right about the number and the year. Verification found the deeper problem: 4.30 is the DIB-effectiveness mean, not the sketch mean, and it is widely mis-attached.
The scale is 0–5, anchored poor to perfect; the source was a newsstand astrology book; and Meehl coined “Barnum effect,” not Forer.
