Journalism runs on what can be checked. This page is Second Humanity answering plainly — what exists, when it was published, what the House refuses to become, and who answers for it. Every factual claim the House makes in public is held open to correction in the Open Record.
What this is
Second Humanity is a Christian contemplative formation house: a body of published writing, a website, and a protected daily-practice application called the Upper Room, built around one concern — the recovery of the human being, at unhurried pace, in an economy built to harvest attention. It was founded and is stewarded by the writer P.W. Mola, and operates as Second Humanity LLC.

- The Upper Room includes a bounded AI companion called the Keeper. Its limits are published before its capabilities: the House's AI ethics and its eight commitments, and why a Keeper exists at all. The Keeper is built on commercially licensed foundation models; it does not diagnose, predict people, or replace human presence, and the House publishes what it may never do.

Plainly, what this is not
Second Humanity is not an AI company; it is a formation house that binds the AI it uses, in public, before using it. The Keeper is not a companion chatbot, not therapy, and not crisis care. The Upper Room carries no ads, no feed, no streaks, no follower counts, and no engagement metrics — the House's own measure of the app's health is whether its people increasingly leave it for tables, walks, and one another's actual company. And the books are sold, but the path is not: everything essential in the House is free, no one is denied it, and giving never unlocks rooms, content, recognition, or standing — the House's own published rule.
