Everything essential in this house is free, and that is a decision, not a limitation. The Codex Companion's daily transmissions, the Chambers, the Reflection Guides, the Daily Return, the readings, the Keeper — all of it is open to anyone who arrives, whether or not they can afford the book, whether or not they can give anything at all. No one is denied the path. The book provides the fullness of the architecture, not permission to enter the House.

And yet a house has costs. There is the writing and the recording. There is the quiet machinery that lets the Companion receive a person's words and return a word written for them. There is the work of keeping the door open, the lights low and warm, the table set — and of carrying those who arrive with empty hands.

So in this founding season, before any paid membership exists, we are inviting a small circle of early patrons — those who have received something here and wish to keep the House open for the next person who walks in carrying something heavy.
