For the listener
The Listener’s Companion
You can hear the words underneath the words. You cannot see them. That is what this is for.
The Original Field works from the words underneath the words — Hebrew and Greek that English translation has smoothed over. In print you can stop and look at them. In the ear they pass. This companion writes them down.
It holds three things: a map of the four Parts and thirty chapters, so that a chapter you want again can be found inside fifteen hours of reading; a lexicon of every root word the book teaches, spelled, said, and glossed as the book itself glosses it; and an index of all one hundred and fifty passages of Scripture the book cites, chapter by chapter, so that a Bible can lie open beside it.
Nothing here is required. The book explains its own terms as it goes, in the prose, on purpose. This is only for the listener who wants to see them written down.
